RAF Raids 1940

Hello,

I am looking for information about following Air Raids:

1) How many RAF bombers participated on bombing Zeiss Jena Works during night 16th/17th August 1940? Is known Squadrons involved? How many planes dropped bombs out of target? Are there known places where this "out" bombs were dropped?

2) Did some RAF bomber operated during night 16th/17th October 1940 over area of Bayreuth - Hof - Plauen or over Area western Bavaria - northern Austria? Did some planes reportedly dropped bombs in this Area? What was original target and which were units involved?

3) How many RAF planes failed to reach target during night mission against Ruhland on 19th/20th November 1940? Is known which units were involved? How many planes dropped bombs out of target and where, if it is known?

Thank you very much for help

Michal

Re: RAF Raids 1940

1) No idea about the number of AC ordered to attack this target, the BC War Diaries only gave a global number of AC sent this night.
For the details of the bomb dropped during this night, you will find a German report there:
http://www.chrito.users1.50megs.com/...7aug40luft.htm

2) Same data for the 16-17 October 1940:
http://chrito.users1.50megs.com/1940...7okt40luft.htm

3) and again for the 19-20 November 1940:
http://chrito.users1.50megs.com/1940...0nov40luft.htm

Sadly this website will only cover the year 1940 with this level of detail.

Hi Michal,

Most answers to your questions can be found in the archives of the National Archives in London:

Bomber Command Night Raid Sheets: AIR14/2664-2680

Operations Record Book Bomber Command: AIR24/236-292

Bomber Command Intelligence Reports: AIR14/214-235
