Hauptmann Wilhelm Meyerweissflog - account

Hi
Does anyone know, if there was any account of Hauptmann Wilhelm Meyerweissflog ever published concerning his last flight on 5 September 1940?
TIA

Re: Hauptmann Wilhelm Meyerweissflog - account

Hello Franek,

in JFV 4/II is listed:
05.09.40 Stab/JG 53 Hptm Wilhelm Meyerweissflog Bf 109 E-1 WNr. 5375 black <I-+–.
He was shot down during an aerial combat with Spitfires over Chatham. POW after belly landing near Monkton at 16.45 hrs.

Regards
Leo

Thanks! So the info that he flew alone is from the K-Report? I wonder if the information about combat in Chatham area comes from German or British sources.
So bad he did not write anything, though I guess he was not particularly proud of it.

Chatham would have come from German records. His name crops up flying with I./JG 53 prior to his capture so he had some operational experience

Thanks. I am just curious, how would they learn that, if Meyerweissflog was flying alone. Could be a general combat area of the unit or a radio communication, of course.
