Raids on Merseyside 08-09 August 1940 Unit ID needed?
Hiya all,
A series of Forum pleas to follow: Late on the 08 - 09 August 1940 the Lutwaffe dropped a series of bombs on the Prenton area of the city of Liverpool. Can anyone advise the the Luftwaffe unit and any interesting information to add? Thanks Danny

II./KG 27 attacked Chester and Leyland that night; no mention of Merseyside

Chris,
The night of 08-09 August 1940, according to the records there was 32 casualties and 6 fatalities. Could it be Luftwaffe aircraft losing their way?? Cheers as always! Danny

Prenton is NOT in Liverpool.
It is on the Wirral...

Re: Raids on Merseyside 08-09 August 1940 Unit ID needed?
John, Chris,
Thanks, I am going from a diary extract, I have the details of the lady who was killed. Still Prenton is some distance from Chester and Leyland still a error in map reading? Cheers

Re: Raids on Merseyside 08-09 August 1940 Unit ID needed?
The diary extract says start time of sirens was 11.28 pm, 02.30 am all clear sounded. 3 am gunfire observed so imagine this would be the time that bombs were dropped.
- Earlier 09 Aug 1940. Cheers Danny
