Re: OK, 109 fans....

I can't explain why, but the 109 in my eyes, epitomizes WW2 fighter design.

Add the original camo and markings, and it all fits perfectly.

It somehow oozes utilitarian lethality.

An opinion that is only understandable if you never saw (or heard) a Spitfire!

For my opinion, it is understandable! Compare the claim lists of Spitfires and Bf 109's...
I saw and heard both...

There is nothing more beautiful than the sound of a Merlin engine on a Spitfire VIII making a low pass.

Re: OK, 109 fans....

I agree with George but seeing and hearing a Rotte of Bf 109Gs isn't far behind. Even if I'm a Spitfire fan I understand perfectly Ruy's comment, especially Bf 109E looks like a perfect killing machine. Early Spits up to Mk Va looked almost too beatiful and elegant to be war machines. But from Mk Vb onwards the clipped wing Spits looked pretty lethal to me, especially photos on a bunch of Mk XIIs leave no doubt of their lethality.

Lions, tigers and panthers are beautiful killing animals. A warthog will kill you but it is one UGLY critter.
