Me262 PARTS ?

Hi Guys

I am not sure I handle 100% the "image" function;
can you see this one ?

These parts were allegedly found on the crash site of Wilma Jeanne, the only Me262 that crashed in France .

we can see the following part numbers:

19-5542A on the collar under the book
8-4517A OBU Berlin on the plate (fuel pump?)
FL32529 on a small black bracket (a classical part found on many FW190, Bf109..)
32314 1X... on the valve on the left
3205-4 and 004 on the hydraulic block on the right

Do you think these are genuine ?
thanks for your advise and happy new year.
GC

Re: Me262 PARTS ?

The large parts look "similar" to engine casing parts...but the rest I do not recognize.

The 8-4517 was never used on the Me262...so that should already bring up red flags.

Re: Me262 PARTS ?

Hi everyone,

this is to confirm that these parts do belong to the Me262 that crashed near Evreux with Ludwig Hofman as pilot in June 1945, during ferry flight to Cherbourg.

I received a great analysis from a German friend for each of these parts, and they are respectively:
  1. under the book a casing from the FUG16 radio
  2. on the right : parts of the casing of the engine
  3. little aircraft shape (with a yellow background) was in the middle of the compass
  4. a very small light button that was on the dashboard panel
  5. a small red light indicating the retraction of the landing gear
  6. a hydraulic valve
  7. a small motor that was installed on the Jumo004B
  8. and the plate is from a fuel filter
I can't share his analysis with you unfortunately, failing to show attachments, but I do trust this German friend as he searched on Me262 crash site in the 80's, and his analysis which very professional.

Furthermore, the story of these parts could be rebuilt (who found them, where, how). so, the whole story does makes sense and this is no fake.

These parts are very interesting as, as far as I know, only two Me262 crashed on the French soil : one in Alsace, and one near Evreux.

These parts will be shown in the museum "Aeroscopia" in Toulouse, next to Concorde prototype and other A/C types;

Have a nice week-end

Re: Me262 PARTS ?

Hi Gilles,
Unfortunately it is not possible to help you much more. The part number 8-4517A does not seem to be listed in the ME262 aircraft or engine ersatzteilliste and there are correct numbers for the Me262 fuel filters given in this thread. In your thread that you refer to you state that the list of parts were only allegedly from that aircraft so, the provenance was not that strong. As for the OBU plate, it is totally on it's own, which would be unusual IMO as the Fuel filter is not a huge part and, if they were bothered to save the other metal wreckage parts, why would they remove the plate from the filter part?
Oh yes, the 3205-4 number is a metal specification number.

Cheers

SM

Re: Me262 PARTS ?

Is it possible that the fuel pump was being transported to another field to repair another aircraft ( 109 ) since Watson was collecting aircraft. If you read Wolfgang's book he speaks to how they had to rely on German mechanics to get aircraft airworthy. Maybe this pump was being taken to another field carried in a empty ammo box.
