B-24 lost 19/20 September 1944
Hi guys
Can anyone help with the following? A US B-24 (unit unknown; s/n unknown) was shot down over Murmansk by Russian AA fire on the night of 19/20 September 1944, during which 1/Lt Keith N. Allen (O-303181) was killed. I believe he was the pilot. The aircraft was apparently operating out of Leuchers on a 'carpetbaggers' mission. Did the aircraft crash? Did the remainder of the crew bale out? Who were they and what happened to them? I note that a B-24 (42-94777) from the 747BS/456BG was lost on this date - but was this the same aircraft?
