RAF Airfields in France & Belgium in 1939-40
Is there a list of Royal Air Force Airfields used in the Battle of France in 1939-40.
Also did the RAF ever base any aircraft in Belgium, as I seem to recall that they were neutral up until May 1940? Thanks in advance

Hello,
The book The Squadrons of the Royal Air Force by James J Halley lists (almost) all the squadron's bases with dates. Z |

2 Lysander squadrons (detachments) sent to Belgium for short periods in 1940 from France.
2 Sqn. Wevelghem 17--19 May. 4 Sqn. Aspelaere 16--21 May. Nick Last edited by Buckeye30; 26th May 2024 at 17:05. Reason: spelling |

Please add No. 615 Squadron with Hurricanes at Moorsele (or Moorseele in WW 2 spelling) airfield from 16 till 20 May 1940. This is just west of Kortrijk/Courtrai and is still a grass airfield.
Some details can be found in https://www.kenleyrevival.org/conten...o-615-squadron. Regards, Leendert |
