Your help needed!
Allow me to introduce myself. I am from a game called Aces High. Recently I have aquired command of II/Kg200, and, as is my way, I want to be thorough in my research prior to assuming command. I have done a small bit of research, and several bits of information ellude me.
First off, what is the structure of a Kampfgeschwader unit? Does it use the basic gruppe and staffel principle? What is the basic layout of Kampfgeschwader? I have come across different roles, different jobs in the squadron, such as mine, gruppenkomandeur (I probably spelled that wrong, im sorry, im just very tired) and the gruppen technical officer. What were the other different jobs? What did they do, and what were their German designations? Lastly, is there any information you consider esential to someone who is about to assume command of a virtual Kampfgeschwader staffel? Thank you all very much, and if there is anyone else out here who plays aces high join II/Kg200! Also, I can answer any questions about it for those of you interested. Again, thank you! Godspeed, Oberst Dinmore, Gruppenkommandeur II/Kg200 |

Re: Your help needed!
KG 200 certainly didn't have a conventional Kampfgeschwader structure.

Re: Your help needed!
Serenity, I believe you would find some books very helpful.
"Luftwaffe Bomber Aces, Men Machines, Methods", by Mike Spick can be one to start with for a general understanding of bomber operations. Greenhill Books. ISBN 1-85367-444-3 As you are interested in KG 200 specifically, "KG 200, the Luftwaffe's Secret Unit", by Geoffrey J. Thomas and Barry Ketley, has got to be a must for you. Hikoki Publications. ISBN 1 902109 33 3. KG 200 was a most unusual unit, why it was far from a typical Kampfgeschwader. It however had a structure with Geschwader Stab, Gruppen and Staffeln. The KG 200 book above sheds some light on the basic organisation. For example the organisation of KG 200 as per 21 February 1944, 1 November 1944 and 6 November 1944 is shown on pages 125 to 126. The books will set you back some USD/GPB/EUR but I believe you will find it useful. |
