Re: eBay: Allied intrest

POST 3489.
These are all B-24Ds from 308BG / Fourteenth AF after moving to India (Assam), 2 were lost before the first Group mission on May 4 1943; the squadrons were based in China from 20 March. They were on supply flights from Dinjan, Chabua and Jorhat until then.
1. "Axis Nightmare" 41-24138 (373BS) missing Feb. 1 1945 in bad weather on route Hsinching-Jorhat, lost / low gas (4 crew). MACR 12030.
2. "Katy-Did" 41-24284 (375BS) named for one of the pilot's daughters; survived after 100+ missions.
3. "The Bad Penny" 41-24238 (375BS) crashed at Chabua soon after arriving (31 March).
5. "Ramp Rooster" 41-24222 (375BS) with revised nose-art, note detail " Something to crow about--SID". The nose wheel had the 375th emblem "Grim Reaper". Survived.
6. "Thumper" 41-24287 (375BS) written-off at Dinjan 9 April 43; a month before their first mission.
Photo 4. "Cabin in the Sky" not sure but may be 41-24292 (425BS) written-off 24 Oct. 43. Mamed after 1940 musical, later a film.

Their only markings at this time was a 400 or 500 number above or below the serial. Later had rudder colours. They are all D-20 / 25 from Consolidated.
