Photos Castricum/Bakkum

Hello,
I am John 41 years old and I live in Castricum at the westcoast of Holland .I am busy to find out everything about the German fortifications and the Wehrmacht or other German troops that were stationed here in the area.
Within a few years I hope to publish a book about this subject.
I am looking for Photographs or stories by German soldiers who served in the Castricum/Bakkum area.
Also stories or Photos from Canadien soldiers who liberated this part of Holland are very welcome.

Greetings,
John Heideman

Hoi Paul,

Thank you very much for the reply,I will give it a try.
Do you know if there is a photo of the plane that was part of the raid on the Mohne Dam?I heard that Young,s plane lay on the Castricum beach for a while.

Groetjes,
John

John,

Found this drawing just now...

I'm not at home right now but will have a look later. There is a picture of the fuselage of AJ-A washed ashore. Later it moved over our beach until it disappeared some day. Strandvonder Thijs Bakker used it to shelter from rain ! It's believed the paddle hanging at his house is from A for Apple !

Groetjes,

Paul

Re: Photos Castricum/Bakkum

Paul,
I heard the story by Thijs Bakker himself, that he sometimes took shelter in the fuselage.Yesterday I had him on the phone for some photographs of bunkers on the Castricum coastline. There must be a film at the "werkgroep oud castricum",which Thijs donated, about bunkers being wrecked after the war.

Groetjes,
John
