Seeking ID of some NCO pilots of 1435 Sqn.

I am hoping to further identify the following NCO pilots of 1435 Sqn.:

Sgt. J. Brown (served 3 Aug. - 11 Dec. 42)

Sgt. David G. Fuller (17 Aug. - Dec. 42)

WO2 H. A. Halley RCAF R123369 (Jul.43 - 7 May 44 when posted to Gibraltar Defense Flt. (later 'C' Flt. 256 Sqn.) then he was posted back to 1435 on 25 July 44 before posted out tour expired on 19 Oct. 44.

F/Sgt. J. S. Hamilton (Sep.42 - 11 Dec. 42)

Sgt. W. N. Harrison (Mar. - Oct. 43)

Sgt. R. Hawkins (13 Aug. 42 - Feb. 43)

F/Sgt. A. W. Miller (July 43)

Sgt. F. W. Sharp (21 Aug. 42 - Jan. 43)

Any insights will be much appreciated.

Regards,

Tom

There is a H.A. Hally (J90470). Don't know if it's the same guy.

Yes, he's the same guy! With his officer service number I was able to find him in the Canada Gazette (Vol.79, No. 9 Feb. 10, 1945):

R123369 WO1 Horace Angus Hally (J90470) commissioned w.e.f. 19 Aug. 44

Many thanks for your help, John.

Regards,
Tom

Tom. Going through all the RCAF airforce lists, up to april 1945, the only only that "MAY" fit is Joseph Splan Hamilton, R-79738/J-16751. Only pilot with those initials. Not sure if this is your guy.

Re: Seeking ID of some NCO pilots of 1435 Sqn.

Richard,

Many thanks for pointing out that possibility. I will notate my files accordingly.

In Brian Cull's book Spitfires Over Malta Hamilton is shown as arriving on the island on 21 July 1942 flying off HMS Eagle. For all such arrivals the Commonwealth AF pilots had their names appended with their service, RCAF, RAAF, etc. Hamilton is not shown as being RCAF, so my assumption is that he was in fact in the RAF. Naturally the author could have gotten it wrong.

Regards,
Tom
