Question Three rare victories by P-38 pilots over France in July 1944

Please help me verify the following claims:

5 July 1944, He 177 (of II./KG 40?), claimed by Lt.Col. Herbert Johnson and 2/Lt. James Reynolds of 20th FG, Tours – Angoulême area;

5 July 1944, Fw 200 (flown by Oblt. Hans Schuster of 2./KG 40?), claimed by Capt. Arthur Jeffrey of 479th FG moments after it took of from Cognac-Châteaubernard;

9 July 1944, Ju 290 (of FAGr 5?) claimed by 2/Lt Jesse Carpenter of 20th FG in the area of Moulins.

You need to get a copy of my KG 40 book as all 3 are covered with accounts from both German and US airmen. PM me if needs be (last one was not a Ju 290 by the way)

5 Jul 44: He 177 A-5, 550255, F8+FP 6./KG 40. Shot down by 20 FG and crashed at Chateauneuf returning to base after engine problems. Oblt Hugo Mueller + 3 wounded, one killed


5 Jul 44: Fw 200 C-3, 0038, 9./KG 40. Shot down by 434th FG at Cognac. Fw Heinz Graubner plus 4 wounded, one killed


9 Jul 44: He 177A-5, 550173, F8+GM, 4./KG 40. Shot down by 79th FG and crashed at Moledon. Ofw Werner Neuenfeldt plus 5 wounded, one killed


Not sure where you got Oblt Hans Schuster from. I have accounts from US and German sides for last 2 which are in the book

A minor correction to last post by Chriss: 434th and 79th FG are actually 434th FS, 479th FG and 79th FS, 20th FG

Your book shows 550255 as F8+BM in the loss table (Page 307).
