Albemarle P1501 of 296 Sq RAF shot down August 9,1944

Albemarle P1501 of 296 Sq was shot down on August8/9 1944 while attempting to deliver arms to Maquis, According to the report I've seen, the airplane was shot down by a night Fighter and crashed on August 9,1944 at Val D'ize near near Vitre. Have not been able to find a claim for airplane. Any information welcome. I've looked at the Theo Boden list and cannot find anything.

Re: Albemarle P1501 of 296 Sq RAF shot down August 9,1944

Hello,

"Own Goal?".

Albemarle P1501 was shot down in error by (162639) F/O Terence Rowland Wood RAFVR (later DFC), of No.604 Sqn RAF. (He Claimed a Dornier Do 217!).

See:
https://ww2db.com/battle_spec.php?battle_id=340

Scroll down to Aug-Dec 1944 (Part III). "A tragic accident"...

Col.
