Fighters over Tunisia

Hi,

Can anyone tell me where i might find a copy of 'Fighters over Tunisia' by Chris Shores and Hans Ring. I understand that when the book was first published a large number of copies were destroyed in a warehouse fire before they could be released, is this true?

Does anyone know how much a copy may cost?

Thanks in advance, David.

Re: Fighters over Tunisia

David,
There was a warehouse fire, and a significant part of the print run (over half, I think) was destroyed, and never reprinted.

I just did a search at addall.com and the cheapest copy was $296, and the most expensive was $550. If I had to buy one I would probably go with the copy from Aardvark Books; not much more than the cheapest and they are in England. I have bought from them in the past, and would again. I think the owner (one of the owners?) is Clive Williams, Chris Shores' co-author on Aces High.

The $550 is badly overpriced for a copy with a Xerox cover.

Frank.

Re: Fighters over Tunisia

If you can read German I have a cheapo reading copy for you.

http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showthread.php?t=4853

I'll sell it for € 25,- ex S&H.

As for the moisture damage, I can make some photographs so you can judge for yourself.

IMHO it is not too bad if you just want a reading copy.

Other books for offer:

New condition hardcover reprints of Victory in the West:

Re: Fighters over Tunisia

Christopher Shores left a message on Stone & Stone awhile back that he is rewriting and revising both "Fighters over Tunisia" and "Fighters over the Desert".

Re: Fighters over Tunisia

Well...IF you don't HAVE to own a copy, You could always request it via inter-library loan;

Re: Fighters over Tunisia

Well, if this is the book for reading, I would strongly suggest not to buy it.
