Re: Me 262 KG 54 Operations 27.and 28.March 45
27th March - III./EJG2 scrambled to intercept a raid on Lechfeld. Obstlt.Bar claimed 3 P-47's & Obstlt.Dahl 2 P-47's.
28th March - Allied intellegence suggests that some of II./KG51's Me262's were ferried to Zerbst for use by 1./NAG 1. B-17's from US 3rd Air Division were attacked my Me262's from I./JG7 near Braunschweig. Two B-17's from the 303rd and 401st Bomb Group were shot down. Two pilots are known to have made claims: Oblt.Stehle of 2./JG 7 and Oblt.Schuck of 3./JG 7. 29th March - Two Me262's from I./KG51 took off to fly meteorological and armed reconnaissance sorties on the Hammelburg - Aschaffenburg - Worms area. One aircraft broke off the operation before completion. [source: "Me262, Volume 3" by Smith & Creek, Classic Publications, 2000] Cheers, Peter D Evans LEMB Administrator |
