10/05/1940 Do17 or Ju87

Hi !

Uffz Erwin Albrecht and Uffz Ludwig Bussenius (both are buried in the Netherlands) are mentioned as crewmembers of a Ju87 or of a Do17, which crashed near Maastricht, close to the Belgian/Dutch border.

Who has more details (sa correct type of the plane, unit) ?

Many thanks and best regards.

Luc

Luc,

It was a Junkers Ju87B as follows:

3./StG77 Junkers Ju87B. Crashed at Bilzenbaan, near Maastricht, after collision in the dive over Mopertingen. Uffz L. Bussenius and Uffz E. Albrecht killed. Aircraft a write-off.

Best regards

Hello Luc,

No, I'm afraid not - it was as follows:

3./StG77 Junkers Ju87B. Crashed near Mopertingen after collision in the dive. Fw J. Becker and Uffz H. Behnert believed baled out unhurt. Aircraft a write-off.

HARTMANN & MISCHE were lost to other causes that day:

3./StG77 Junkers Ju87B. Shot down by flak and crashed near Vorselaer, 6 km north-west of Herentals during attack on Antwerp 7.15 p.m. Oberlt K. Hartmann (Staffelkapitän) and Fw W. Mische killed. Aircraft a write-off.

Hi Peter,

Many thanks for your reply - much appreciated
!

Oblt Hartmann and Fw Mische were buried at Schoonselhof (Antwerp) cemetery and after the war transferred to the German War Graves cemetery at Lommel.

Best regards

Luc
