Lt William L. LeC. Barnes

Killed on 2 March 1941 by a young Maltese guard.

What does "LeC." stand for?

Thanks.

Re: Lt William L. LeC. Barnes

Hi Chris

Just a guess - but is there a place in France with that name? An old battlefield? Its just that I notice Bill Barnes' father was a colonel and often WWI veterans included such a name, if significent, amongst their offspring's forenames. Probably totally wrong! Or could there be a Channel Islands connection?

Best
Brian

Re: Lt William L. LeC. Barnes

Though it's totally OT, that kind of things tease my curiosity. And curiosity kills only cats, not roosters...
There's a town in Belgian Flanders named Le Coq (different spelling) or De Haan, but I don't know if there was any significant battle in WWI.

Cheers,
Chris

Re: Lt William L. LeC. Barnes

There appears to be Jersy connection, through his father Colonel Lawrence Edward Barnes:
