Which was the rank of the Russian ace Gennadi D. Tsokolayev, that served in the 4 Gv.IAP, in 1942?

according christer bergströms excellent book, black cross & red star, volume II , he was Leytenant in early 1942.

That's a mistake.

He was Starshiy (Senior) Leytenant.

Stalin's Falcons by Polak and Shores lists him as "Naval Kapitan".

i took an further look, and indeed, there is a profil from his I 16 mark 24 and under the profil you can read : Starshiy Leytenant.
