He 111 W.Nr. 2553 ?
Would appreciate hearing from anyone with knowledge of the history of a He 111 with W.Nr. 2553. An ID plate from this airplane may be seen here:

Re: He 111 W.Nr. 2553 ?
Hi Stephen;
I do not know if it relates, but bomb carriers on Ju 88 A-1 0880119 are known marked as f.e. M 88/0119 - Thus the M before 2553 might relate to ESAC bomb container inside the fuselage. Otherwise W.Nr. 2553 might have belonged to apx. H-3 model, but I do not have any history or entry for that number. Any Ju88 plates in your collection? Feel free to PM to me. cheers ed |

Re: He 111 W.Nr. 2553 ?
More likely it was a P version. I even WNr. 2559 recorded as an F-2 from Schulen losses.

Re: He 111 W.Nr. 2553 ?
Thanks for the info Jim! Do I understand that you suggest 2553 is a P version, and there's a listing for 2559 as a F-2 version?
Best regards, Steve |

Re: He 111 W.Nr. 2553 ?
Correct - however subtypes as listed in the losses can't always be trusted, so I would regard the the one recorded as an F-2 with some suspicion. However, the majority of WNr. reported in this range are He111Ps.
