What means Abschussposition and Angriffsposition?
In my Lent research i got my hands on some microfilm copies with a few of Lent' s Abschussmeldungen. When Lent writes "Abschussposition" and "Angriffspostion" what does he mean? Then he makes a difference and wrote "von unten links". I guess this is Luftwaffen slang, but what does that mean?

Re: What means Abschussposition and Angriffsposition?
Yes, thanks, i speak fluent german. I MEAN is Anriffsposition or Abschussposition a specific flight position? It must, otherwise he would not make a difference between, Angriffs-, Abschussposition AND "von unten links".

Re: What means Abschussposition and Angriffsposition?
Andrek !
With the German military terminology in connection with the (past) 1943 development of night-fighter weapons (Schräge Musik e.t.c.), I would like to say, that "Angriffsposition" is a position approaching the enemy bomber. If the Night Fighter pilot then made the decision, using his nose-weapons to shoot the enemy down, then it was in a case of a victory in "Angriffsposition". When this Nightfighter-aircraft was equipped with "Schräge Musik", then he had the opportunity to fly underneath the enemy aircraft. He might have been flown a couple of time in the same speed underneath until the weapons and/or gunsights were ready and thenn shot. This is in German terminology a classic "Abschussposition", which would fit with "von unten links" All the best ! Horst Weber |

Thanks Horst for the information. That sounds plausible.
