Claim for an Axis P-40
Hi,
I recently came accross the story of the shooting down of an Axis "captured" P-40 by a B25 aircrew from the 310th BG. Has anyone any details of this event ? Alex

Alex,
310th BG claims list does indeed mention an "hostile P-40" on such sites as web-birds.com. On same site is this 57th FG P-40 that fell in Italian hands in Tunisia: http://www.web-birds.com/12th/57/57-30.jpg Regards, Leendert

Hello Brian,
310th BG, 381st BS. Date was 27th August 1943. Claim was made for the destruction of 1- Me109 plus 1- Hostile P-40. Claim made by Sgt. W.B.Mayhew Aft Gunner in B25 42-64592 a/c "K". See details here at pages 266 and 267 - http://57thbombwing.com/381st_Histor...r42toAug43.pdf Alex
