FW190 action 7/3/44.

Hello all. Can anyone help with the following?

On the 7th March 1944 at approx 17:45 hrs, Spitfires from 610 Sqn. chased and engaged three FW190s 35 miles SE of Start Point (UK south coast). The action carried on until nearly reaching the French coast (probably very near to Channel Islands). One FW190 was claimed damaged before the Spitfires broke for their base in the UK. I have the RAF combat report of P/O Hussey and F/Sgt.Harding.

Has someone details of the Luftwaffe unit involved? I am trying to clear up a query ref an unknown FW190 which apparently crashed on the island of Guernsey on this date. I have tried and failed to identify the unit/pilot (who allegedly died in the crash) for some time now! Could the two incidents be related? Items from this a/c are on display in the Guernsey Occupation Museum I believe.
