Hurricane Serials Listing?

I have found detailed aircraft service histories listed by serial number for all Spitfires and Mosquitos via the internet. Does anyone know of similar lists for the Hurricane, Typhoon, Tempest or any other fighter type used by the RAF?

Thanks,
Tom

There are a number of such books published by Air Britain, each with the title "The X File" but they pass out of print rapidly. Examples include The Typhoon File, the Halifax, Stirling, Battle and Hampden. There is another work on the Lancaster with such detail, but not a complete one for the Hurricane.

Thanks, Graham, I have both the Camel and SE5 files and they are great reference tools. Too bad a Hurricane file was never done. Air Britain also produced a few books covering blocks of RAF aircraft serial numbers, some of which cover Hurricanes, but leaving major gaps.

Hi Tom,

please give me your mail on PM - I have one file with some 1800 Hurricane serials and I can send you this database.

Tom,

The Air Britain books on RAF serials - not a few but a complete set - cover every Hurricane serial, at least for RAF service. For FAA Hurricanes you need Ray Sturtivant's FAA Aircraft of WW2, also from Air Britain. However, only a very small number of Hurricanes escape those two.

Sadly, AB books do not provide too many details available on F.78s, like dates of movements.
