G-H and the 2nd Air Division

On a recent visit to the National Archives in Kew, I chanced upon a document relating to the US 2nd Air Division carrying-out trials with the British G-H blind bombing aid.

I have ordered the documents for my archive, however it raises two important questions, This document cover’s over 40 pages, it appears that the trials were joint US – RAF.

1) Why was this proven and accurate bombing aid not introduced with the US 8th & 9th Airforces? (I presume it was not, the document makes mention of the introduction of H2X)

2) Given the problem with cloud over western Europe during the winter months, it’s obvious that the US commanders had realised that identifying and bombing accurately using the standard US bomb-sights was not an option, what was the percentage of US bombing operations using H2X, or Oboe.

Any help appreciated.
