Uffz. Wöge 02-24-44

I asked this back in 2002, but thought I would give it another shot.

I am looking for some information about a Uffz. Wöge He claimed a victory over a B17 on Feb 24, 1944. Any information about this that anyone has, I would be very interested.

Here is some info that I have: "The Luftwaffe unit involved was the III Gruppe of JG26. Their claims for the action were five - 3 aircraft from the 92nd BG and 2 from the 306th BG. From German records, it seems the aircraft was shot down by Uffz Woege of the 9th Staffel, flying an Me109G (actually spelt Woge, with an umlaut over the o) The B17 was shot down at 12:25, and crashed near FURSTENAU."

And this from German Claim Films:
"24.02.44 Uffz. Wöge 9./JG 26 B-17 FQ-7: 7.000-800 m. [Fürstenau] 12.20-25 Film C. 2025/I Anerk: Nr.91"
----------

I would like to get a picture of Uffz Woge for my collection of information. Does anyone have anything on Uffz. Woge?

Re: Uffz. Wöge 02-24-44

Mike,

Found this in a 2003 post on the Luftwaffe Archives & Records Reference Group website:

"Two photos of Uffz. Wöge can be seen on pages 26 and 94 of JG 26 - War Diary Vol. II by Don Caldwell ...
On 24th February, Caldwell lists a victory for Uff Wöge as follows :
B-17 (92nd or 306th BG) NE of Lingen (FQ17), 1225 hrs., also confirmed by Tony Wood's claim site.."

Perhaps a forum member who has the book can help you out?

Regards,

Leendert

Re: Uffz. Wöge 02-24-44

Thanks for the help. I have contacted the author of the book to see about obtaining a copy of the images, but he requests that I purchase the book (which I do understand.) So... I will comb the web to see about getting the pictures that way. If that does not pan out, I will just go on about my life without the images.
