Re: F8+KR Richard Oxby
Thanks David, I have this already. What I was really looking for was local newspaper reports of the time, or maybe first hand witness accounts, police, RAF (k) reports or similar.
As I mentioned, I have one account which looks like a book extract - but I've no idea where this came from, who wrote it, or even when. It's a couple of A4 sheets in length and before you ask, it's not part of the account in 'Ghosts of KG40' by Jack Oakey. I have that too, and as the author based his writing on accounts from p/o Shipard, F/L Kemp (i/c GCI) and Oxby senior feels it's accurate, I'm reasonably happy with that version too. However, I'm revisiting the incident because I still have a feeling there is information out there I've missed. I would like to be absolutely certain I have my facts straight, and have not left any stones unturned. If anyone is able to help at all, I would be very interested for example in someone independently confirming the names of the residents of Bwlch-y-fen farmhouse. The article I have describes how the whole family heard the battle overhead, and subsequently witnessed the impact and explosion of the Heinkel. I'm left wondering if this was true. Surely if one or more of the family members had been standing outside watching, wouldn't they have been injured by flying debris or glass ? The account describes Heinkel parts scattered far and wide, with the roof of the farmhouse sustaining damage, and the exploding ordinance taking out all the farmhouse windows. It's strange there were no injuries to the family. Any more firm details from anyone on this incident would be much appreciated. cheers guys, richard. |

Re: F8+KR Richard Oxby
Hi Richard,
I wonder if it was one of the Edward Doylerush books? Can anyone else help as I no longer have copies? Regards, David |

Thanks David, as I haven't come a/c Mr Doylerush before. This is a new lead on a familiar incident - so I'll certainly check it out. atb, Richard.
