Re: Stirling NF-O
The following link
http://tinyurl.com/lrbakh finds two Halifax’s (not Stirlings) from 138 Squadron 7/8 May 1944 - 138 Squadron - Halifax LL280 - NF-O Crashed at St-Denis-de-Orques (Sarthe). Operation CITRONELL 1, France. 7/8 June 1944 - 138 Squadron - Halifax LL416 - NF-O Crashed near la Fert-St-Cyr 9Loire-et-Cher). Operation HISTORIAN 10. Two further links from Lost Bombers http://tinyurl.com/ntegdb http://tinyurl.com/mw2dgl Kind regards Ross |

Re: Stirling NF-O
Hi Soren,
138 lost 3 halifax NF-O's in quick succession in the early part of 44 oddly all on the same dates of the month i.e. 7/8 Feb, 7/8 May & 7/8 June. They still had a Halifax NF-O flying on 11/12 Aung but by 28/29 Aug the letter had been assigned to a Stirling. Unfortunately the records do not have the serial number recorded (maybe on the Battle Orders but these are not in Kew). Not a lot of help I'm afraid. Bob |
