Alexander von Winterfeldt

According to his bio in Obermaier's "Die Ritterkreuzträger der Luftwaffe," Winterfedt claimed four victories as a fighter pilot in 1918. I have been unable to locate any claims for him in 1918 in "The Jasta War Chronology" by Franks, Bailey & Duiven. Unfortunately I don't have a copy of "The Jasta Pilots" by the same authors, so I don't know if he is mentioned at all.

Can anyone shed any light on the unit(s) he served in and dates of claims during the First World War?

Thanks,

Tom

Re: Alexander von Winterfeldt

He's not listed in The Jasta Pilots.

Re: Alexander von Winterfeldt

Thanks, Ruy. Perhaps Obermaier got that one wrong or maybe Winterfeldt was a two seater pilot or even gunner.Tom

Re: Alexander von Winterfeldt

Holá Tom & Ruy,

according to www.luftwaffe.cz/winterfeldt.html
Alexander flew with Jasta 20 in 1918, maybe in the East, an area which has not been paid much attention by the various authors of WW 1 Aces.
Greetings from the always sunny Costa Blanca

Re: Alexander von Winterfeldt

Thanks Hitotte, I missed finding that info myself. Although according to the sources I've seen, Jasta 20 was in fact operating on the Western front throughout the war.
