Lt Edward B Lightfoot, 61FS, 56FG
I am researching the career of this pilot, killed in a mid air collision on 12 April 1945.
During the mission of 30 November 1944, Lt Lightfoot's P47 received heavy flak damage during a strafing attack on a train near Wurzburg. He was forced to land on the continent and the aircraft was subsequently salvaged along with that of Lt David Mauldin. Does anyone out there know the serial number and/or code letter of his aircraft on that day? Thanks |

Can't help with your enquiry, but I do have some details of the collision in which Lightfoot was killed at Hintlesham, Suffolk on 12 April 1945, if you are interested ?

Thanks for the suggestion Phil, what leads you to think it was this A/C?

Re: Lt Edward B Lightfoot, 61FS, 56FG
the loss of this A/C is in microfilm A5686 for the 56th FG and the date seems to fit
