Does anyone know the exact day of promotion of Don M. Beerbower to Maj? Any help is appreciated.

From the Historical Record, 354th Fighter Group, HQ Det.
"....Major Beerbower had just received his gold leaves the day before and this was his first mission as a Major. When the planes came back, the new Major was missing, the only casualty....." This is a reference to 9 Aug 44, which indicates that he received his major's gold oak leaves on 8 Aug 44. This does not indicate when he was officially promoted, however.
