Re: Luftflotte Südost magazines

Hello,

interesting this link: http://www.wartimepress.com/

I proposed them my collection of original Luftflotte Nord magazines. Nevertheless before to discuss a price, I wanted to give a priority for someone of our community who should be interested.
Regards
Erik

Re: Luftflotte Südost magazines

Hi Kari and Jocshi

The Library of Congress replied that they do not hold any magazines (however, my request was for Luftflotte Südost only), but I am referred to
the German National Library at http://www.d-nb.de/eng/index.htm that holds the serial. And I just checked for Luftflotte Nordost and it looks like they have that as well .. http://d-nb.info/013894307

Kind regards
Morten

Re: Luftflotte Südost magazines

I am glad you were able to locate a source for them, Morten, but I am perplexed over the Library of Congress response. Why would their catalog clearly show that they have them in the reading rooms in the Jefferson or Adams buildings but now claim they don't? I wonder if maybe they used to have them but returned them to Germany some years ago? I think I recall that they did do that with some items back in the 1970's and 1980's.

Re: Luftflotte Südost magazines

While talking of Luftwaffe newspapers/magazines, I recall seeing a similar format magazine called (or published by) 'Luftflotte 4'. This magazine was even translated in other languages, like Hungarian and Rumanian.

Has anyone seen this magazine?

Thanks,

Hi Larry

Yeah, I was surpriced about that as well. But here is what they wrote:

------ Start -------
Hello:

This is in response to your inquiry of May 12, 2009.
I am unable to verify that the Library of Congress holds this title; however, the German National Library at
< http://www.d-nb.de/eng/index.htm > reports holding the serial. The individual record is linked at < http://d-nb.info/026038870 > and copied below:

Link zu diesem Datensatz http://d-nb.info/026038870 Zeitschrift/Serie Luftflotte Süd / hrsg. von der Luftflotte 2 Organisation Deutschland <Deutsches Reich> / Luftflotte Süd Verleger Venezia : Ferrari Erscheinungsverlauf 1.1943 - 27.1944[?], 1943 - 1944 Sachgruppe Y Abgeschlossene Veröffentlichungen

This is the only record that I can locate and hopefully the German National Library will have the entire run of this serial. Best wishes with your research.

Sincerely,
------ End -------

Anyway, it's easier for me to deal with the Geman Library as I visit Frankfurt fairly often.

Cheers
Morten

Hi Morten,

That almost sounds like bureaucrat-speak for "we are too lazy to get up out of our chair and take a look"!

Yes, in the end I think this has worked out best this way. A visit to Frankfurt/M. will certainly be easier for you that trying to deal long-distance with the Library of Congress.

I hope Frankfurt has the Heft you want!
