Re: Heinz Schmitt of 3/JG 27 kia 26.06.1941

Lt. Heinz Schmidt was one of the most talented JG 27 pilots in Africa during early months, credited with 6 victories.
Here are his victories (source - Tony Wood's list):

1. 30.09.40 Lt. Heinz Schmidt, 3./JG 27, Spitfire, S. Eastbourne, 18.05
2. 21.05.41 Lt. Heinz Schmidt, 3./JG 27, Blenheim IV, S.E. Fort Capuzzo, 07.56
3. 17.06.41 Lt. Heinz Schmidt, 3./JG 27, Hurricane, S.E. Sidi Omar, 11.15
4. 17.06.41 Lt. Heinz Schmidt, 3./JG 27, Hurricane, S.E. Sidi Omar, 11.35
5. 17.06.41 Lt. Heinz Schmidt, 3./JG 27, Hurricane, N.E. Gambut, 17.10
6. 17.06.41 Lt. Heinz Schmidt, 3./JG 27, Hurricane, N.E. Gambut, 17.12

He fell victim of P/O Caldwell as his vic. no. 1, killed W. Fort Capuzzo 26.VI.41.

Best regards,

Nef

Hi guys

Nef, it is nice to see you back after quite some time of absence! I hope that all is well with you. Just in case you and Bogdan might find it useful here is his loss information:

26 June 1941: Leutnant Heinz Schmidt of I./JG 27 killed in Bf 109 E-7 (W.Nr. 3799) at Capuzzo due to unknown causes, 100%

Horrido!
