emblem identification
Hello,
need help in order to identify the units of the following planes. All of them in Greece or Crete 1941. Didn`t find any of them in the booklet of Barry Kettley + Mark Rolfe Rudolf Huemer, FF. killed in Alikianou/Crete 20.05.42. Any info about him? thanks in advance guys Last edited by byron-; 29th September 2009 at 19:30. |

Hm, had a Ju 52 of KGr.zbV. 60 missing Kreta.
Names of the crew bad to read but there is a Fw. Hömer missing (reported as WOp), thats the only name similiar like Huemer = Hümer ?? khorat |

Re: emblem identification
Hi, Byron...
The second emblem on the Ju52 - the 'leaping stag' - is presently under discussion on the thread dated 4 September - Ju52 identity by Chuckschmitz. It's also No.415 in Ketley and Rolfe's book. There seems to be debate about it being either KGzbV106, KGzbV172 or indeed, both, at different points in time. The emblem on the Stuka is possibly No.510 in 'Ketley & Rolfe', namely I.Gruppe/St.G.76, but I seem to remember an awful lot of discussion about this and other very similar-looking emblems in the past, so I couldn't say for certain. Given the quality of the photo, it could well be the same as '510'. As for the first Ju52, I see nothing but 'snow' unfortunately, it's a very fuzzy picture indeed... sorry I can't be of more help. Regards... Paul |

Re: emblem identification
Hi Paul,
Thanks for your effort. I agree about the second emblem, i found it by the Nr. 415 of Ketleys book. I believe it is the K.Gr. 106 as the plane was stationed in the airfield Dadion where the picture was taken. I have doubts about the unit of the Stuka, it doesn`t have any similarity with the lion of Nr. 510. It seems to be something like a flower. The Ju 52 `s emblem is truely very foggy, one needs a good eye to recognise it. regards Byron |

Re: emblem identification
I think i have now the unit of the first picture, it`s the KG zbV 2, starting mashines 20.05.41 in Topolia. The emblem is Nr. 394 of Rolfes book.
Bei enlargment of the code, i could make out the letters G6+.... |
