Fighter pilots in French resistance
I'm looking for any details re Allied fighter pilots in French resistance. Is there any kind of documentation of their activity. I know also about some of them being in SOE. Recently I've spoken with former fighter pilot and he has confirmed that he served as a volunteer but he didn't say how he joined and what exactly he was doing. His "service" started since he finished operational flying in 1944 and was posted to FC HQ, so obviously he wasn't shot down over occupied French territory. As he wasn't very kin on sharing details I cannot mention his name. He has a certificate of voluntary service with French resistance (Active Member).
Any help much apprieciated. |

Re: Fighter pilots in French resistance
That may be a bit outside your subject, and should be checked because I don't recall the details (I'll see if I've got something about that in my books), but I think at least one Soviet fighter pilot joined the French resistance and participated in actions against the Germans. It was an interesting story.
If I remember well, he was shot down and captured on the Eastern Front and transferred in a prisonner camp in France or close to France. When he managed to escape, he came into contact with the resistance and joined them. |

Re: Fighter pilots in French resistance
Hello Peter,
Boussa Adolphe Lucien (RAF n° 101465) of 350 (Belgian) Squadron was a Fighter pilot who joined the French resistance. You can find his biography at http://www.350sqn.be/biography/Boussa%20Alain.htm Best regards, Serge |

Re: Fighter pilots in French resistance
Thank you guys all. Generally speaking I'm rather more interested in any kind of database where I can search each particular name. I'm curious to know if somebody kept any files of them, and if so, where is it now.
Thanks Voytech, I know about Bruno Semmerling and his amazing, quick escape. I've heard a story about his SOE connections but have no confirmation as yet. If you have any further info you can contact me on my private email . Basically it is mostly about someone, whom B.S. knew well (there is a interesting photo of both of them taken somewhere in Europe). I'll see him again (hopefully) but don't think he'll be that happy to dig out this matter any more. Regards |
