Longest raid into Russia

Does anyone know what was the longest raid in to Russia by the Luftwaffe

Hello ross123:

I reckon that is an interesting question and I have been waiting to see what replies would be posted.

Since none have come in, I thought I should get the ball rolling. I assume you are referring to the most easterly target attacked by the LW (and not the longest distance from the take-off point to the target).

Joel Haywood's Stopped at Stalingrad includes a photograph, which the caption indicates shows ships burning after being attacked on the Volga at Saratov (46 degrees 1 minute East). IIRC the same book refers to attacks on shipping on the Caspian Sea.

OK, that's a start, I hope that some further responses will come in!

if you take recce missions into consideration:
2.(F)/100 to Aktjubinsk 57°11´East ; 50°18´North or same unit to Abadan and Basra southern Irak and Iran.

August 1943, a Bv138 flying boat flew as far east as the Vilkitsky Straits, 104 degrees East, the same longitude as Singapore
