Re: What did German Glider pilots do after landing??

British Glider pilots were trained as you would expect to fight, but where possible they were given tasks such as looking after prisoners, communications ect and were evacuated as the first opportunity after the wounded.
The reason was the additional training that they received. Between missions RAF Glider Pilots often flew as P2 in C47's to help keep their hand in.

A member of our Gliding Club now deceased was originally an RAF Glider Pilot and he had some good stories about the C47 as they were not given extra training to allow for the fact that it had things like engines. This was what they would now call on the job training but shortly afterwards they were sent on awareness sessions.
