15 September 1940: 9./KG55 Heinkel He111P-2 (1586). Both engines disabled by Green Section of No.152 Squadron (F/O P.G.St G. O'Brian, P/O A.R. Watson, and Sgt K.C. Holland) during sortie to attack Portland Harbour and crashed in sea 15 miles south-west of Swanage 3.45 p.m. BF Uffz Andreas Janson, BM Uffz Fritz Keil, and BS Obergefr Rudolf Conrad all wounded and drowned, FF Lt Hans-Adalbert Tüffers rescued wounded in left arm - admitted to hospital in Cherbourg, BO Uffz Heinz Rothenbelievedunhurt - both rescued by Seenotdienst. Aircraft G1+AT 100% write-off.
