Thanks so much Chris, for your prompt reply and the information. could you suggest where i might find out more details ? Fighter command losses seems to have no record. Also, I don't suppose you have any knowledge of a canadian spitfire in the same area (or more accurately Upwaltham) - I don't have a date - only first hand witnesses who were children at the time - they reckon spring/summer 44? No one seems to know anything about it - again it was brought to my attention through witnesses.
