Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source
Hi Steve,
You're breaking new ground here! Until now, I had as a reference Anders Hjørtsberg's statement this pic was taken at Kassel-Waldau, unit unknown. The background barracks do look familiar with other Neubiberg pics indeed. As for the plane itself, it has the characteristic low-spine camouflage line of either Erla or WNF produced Bf 109 G-10's. The plain underwing Balkenkreuz does point though to either an WNF or a Mtt built machine. Lots of uncertainties here, also compounded by the tactical markings as well: the low contrast white outlined "13" could be consistent with a NAG machine too, and we're deprived on this shot from any clear indication what the fuselage colors were behind the fuselage Balkenkreuz.... A really tantalizing plane indeed. Thanks so much for your input, hoping that further details will emerge so we can pinpoint that particular G-10! Cheers Marc |
