Hello all,
after some very interesting earlier discussions concerning I./SG 151 with very helpful anwers I would like to ask some questions about II./SG 151 this time.
While II./SG 151 seems to have flown some missions at the
Oder front in February 1945, the Gruppe was withdrawn to Ingolstadt-Manching to conduct the
Panzerblitz training for all ground-attack pilots (source: Carlsen/Meyer's
Die Flugzeugführer-Ausbildung der Deutschen Luftwaffe).
But according to other sources (Holm's website and Stankey/de Zeng's
Dive Bomber and Ground Attack Units of the Luftwaffe) the 5./SG 151 and 6./SG 151 remained as operational detachments at the Eastern front until their disbandment in April 1945, leaving only the 4th
Staffel in the training role!
- Were 5./SG 151 and 6./SG 151 equipped with Fw 190 Panzerblitz or the ground-attack version?
- Were they independant units or subordinated to another Schlachtgeschwader (5./SG 151 was at least temporary attached to I./SG 151 before the latter transferred to Grove)?
- Are there any aircraft or personnel losses known for the period?
- 5./SG 151 was based at Fürstenwalde but from which airfield did 6./SG 151 operate (apparently in the Luftflotte 6 area)?
I know these are very tricky questions about a little-researched unit but I appreciate every hint and help on this subject!
Thank you all very much in advance!
Best regards
Michael
