Red aircraft codes on NJG Bf110s during 1940?

Hello,

We're doing a series of Bf110 Color Profiles for the NJG units during 1940. We've been putting light gray unit codes on the a/c, but some seem to be much darker and could be red. Does anyone have any color photography or other information that would confirm that red code letters were used on the a/c codes of some units?

Thanx for your help.
