Günther Specht 23rd May 1940

Hi Guys

Watched an interesting program about excavating a British Spitfire flown by Paul Klipsch of the 92 squadron shot down between 1807 and 1835 hrs GMT on 23rd May 1940 1907-1945 hrs local time. Günther Specht is believed to have been the victor, and indeed his Bf110's rudder shows three claims over Sptifires this day. Battle included Bf110's from ZG 76, Specht's Bf110's from 3./ZG 26 and I think Bf109's from JG 21, Fritz Ultsch claiming at 1935 hrs(1835 GMT). Four Spitfires were lost, the one to Ultsch, and three to the Bf110's, Uffz Karl Huber bordfunker to Fw Werner Hahn claimed two at 1907 & 1913 hrs(1807 & 1813 GMT), this would suggest a melee, in fact Hahn himself claims at 1905 & 1910 hrs, Erich Groth(Stab./ZG 76 at 1925 hrs, and Karl Langenberg(5./ZG 76) at 1930 & 1945 hrs, all recorded on the micro films.

Specht's/3./ZG 26's are not recorded on the micro films. Question to you all is does anybody have the times(preferably documented) of Specht's claims, and there is always the chance that his bordfunker was responsible for some of these?

Grateful for any enlightenment.

Kind Regards

Johannes
