Russian 'Red on Red'?

Hi guys

Extracted from Russian website. I would appreciate a better translation/interpretation than that of Google, please!

"July 24, 1941 when performing flight report at plant No. 18 in TMA Rossosh plane Ep-2 head. No. 1,850,705 was twice attacked and shot fighter and a-16. After the second attack, the plane caught fire. Pilot Maj. Rykov and leading engineer of SCIENTIFIC voeninžener 2 rank Kokorin out with parachutes. Wingtips Safonov and borttehnik Seregin were killed, is reported by the senior voenpred plant. - Cause: inconsistent with the PVO. application for flight permission and were engaged in the issue of the NKVD."

A Russian aircraft was shot down by an I-16?

Cheers
Brian
