Edmund Wright, 316th FS, crash dated Dec. 22nd 1944

Hi All,

Edmund Wright crashed with his P-47D, #42-26566,in South Germany after combat with German fighters.
Searching for the reason of the crash. shot down? engine failure?
What happende with the pilot? As far as I know he bailed out and reached ground savely but not sure if he became POW or if he made it back to France without capturing him.

Your help is highly appreciated.

Thanks in advace
Rolf
