Yes, Cincinnati was not involved.
On 5 July 1942, OS2U-3, BuNo 5810, assigned to VS-1D13 at NAS Kodiak went missing from a local patrol. Wreckage was later found in a bay at Chiniak Island, off the east coast of Kodiak. Only the body of the pilot was recovered. The pilot was Ens. B.B. Brandel, with Ens. R.G. Long in the rear cockpit.
