If you put s on a German instrument, do you mean hours or seconds? Of course the scale will tell you, but using h makes it clear Suggest standardisation would be to french as no self respecting Englishman in 1930 had any truck with that metric rubbish. Abandoning Imperial units was where the rot first set in. Just a thought
