Hello,
According to the document "Der Luftkrieg in der Steiermark 1941 - 1945" (
https://www.landesarchiv.steiermark....20-%201945.pdf), on 22 April 1944, a twin-engine German aircraft crashed on the Schaunitzalm in the municipality of Hohentauern, Austria. Three crew members and a Nachrichtenhelferin (woman auxilary radio operator) were killed, and the seriously injured pilot died a day later in the Kalwang hospital. The remaining crew members were taken to Trieben by German soldiers.
I have had no luck so far identifying this crash. There is nothing on this day or the days around this date corresponding in the book "Verluste der deutschen Luftwaffe in Österreich", by Hans and Mag. Martin Handing (covering the period from September 1943 to May 1945).
A search on German dead cards on fold3 has also failed to find casualties at this place or in this area, but data for 1944 is far from complete.
Has someone an idea of the ID of this aircraft ? My guess, due to the fact that it has a woman passenger aboard, and at least 7 passengers (4 KIFA, 1 DOW and the ones taken to Trieben), is that is was probably a transport aircraft.
