1839/1844 Squadrons

Looking in the books I have it is constantly stated that 1844 scored a considerable number of victories (28+) compared to a paltry 7 for 1839 Squadron (marginally more than 800 Sqn which scored 6). However when I look at the claims I have 1839 claiming a more creditable 12.75, compared to 20.25 for 1844! I suspect this may be a result of the early claims of SLt ET Wilson and SLt RF Mackie being credited to 1844 rather than 1839, and a shared victory of 4.5.45. Any thoughts gang?
