269 Sqdn: 21 or 22/06/1940 attack on Scharnhorst?
According to the 269 Squadron Old Comrades Association Hudsons of 269 Squadron attacked the Scharnhorst on 22/06/1940, together with Beauforts of 442 Squadron. Obviously 442 sqdn = 42 Sqdn (or 224) but...
42 Squadron lost 3 Beauforts in an attack on the Scharnhorst on 21/06/1940. Two Hudsons of 224 Sqdn and one from 233 Sqdn also attacked the Scharnhorst on 21/06/1940. Does anyone know if these were three different attacks on two seperate days, or was the attack by 269 Sqdn also on 21/06/1940? Regards, Bart |
