Jan Poniatowski

Guys

Perhaps one for our Polish members?

Back in the old days when I got historically interested in aviation, the name Jan Poniatowski occured now and then when dealing with Polish Aces. Later his name completely disappeared.

Was he a totally ficticious person or did he really exist? Wrongly spelled name perhaps or mistaken identity?? If he was made up, who did this and why???

Cheers
Stig
